It was a pleasure to take part in the 2025 #TeachAwards as one of the judges. In particular I was impressed by the online secondary magazine Picture News Secondary - it's a great website, with easy to navigate articles on both national and global issues.

I wrote this article about my own experiences of Affluent Neglect last year.
Maybe some of my experiences will resonate with your own. Maybe some of this information will be entirely new to you. But awareness of affluent neglect must become more widespread.

A hot topic amongst parents is when it's safe for a child to walk to school alone.
There's no legal guidance on what age is right to walk to school alone. Parents should base the decision on their child’s maturity, ability & the safety & distance of a route to school.

The new school year is often a busy time for #safeguarding staff. A new intake of children inevitably means new child protection issues, plus incidents which occurred over the summer break.
If you're finding it difficult, speak to a colleague, or I can provide advice - slide into my DMs.

Did you see this poster I created last month?
It's ready to be printed and shared - in staff rooms, by email - anywhere it could be of help to a community (as long as children don't have access). It also contains useful contact numbers which people can use anonymously if worried.
