Today's album is Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson, 1996
This album feels like a fever dream. It was conceived as a soundtrack to an imaginary film. David Lynch used a track in one of his films. That about sums it up.

This is a very cool album! I really appreciate the notes & intros from Shankar about the scales, tempos, styles, etc. It provides an entry point for anyone unfamiliar with Indian music.

Today's album is Soul Mining by The The, 1983
Almost lost me on the first couple tracks. Sounded like generic 80s pop/rock but then it got a little weirder & a lot more interesting. I think worth a re-listen now that I know what to expect.

Not sure what to think about this one. Sounds like a Beach Boys album but... somehow not at the same time. It's 60s but... also modern. Idk. I just struggled to make sense of it.

Some of this I liked. The vibe was interesting but I couldn't take the vocal style seriously. At times it sounded like a parody of itself. Maybe it just didn't age well but it sounded kinda silly

I wanted to like this so bad & I just couldn't get into it. It's like a who's who of 90s/00s hip hop/R&B. I like her hip hop but I'm not an R&B fan, which is primarily what this album was.
