Thanks! I hope so. I'm excited to get started and see how it all plays out

No complaints from my ankle, which I babied with pavement, slow turns, and KT tape. Breathing didn't feel great, but legs are ready to race. Protecting that ankle tendon on the opening 55 miles of trail will be crucial before the roads. I'm excited and anxious. One more run before the race! #running

8 miles w/ 15' @ marathon pace.

After a long weekend of lower than scheduled mileage, bad sleep, bad diet, a full stomach, and a long car ride, I do not feel sharp. Like, THIS body is supposed to carry me 100 miles? I know it's all good - two short shakeout runs between me and the race! #running

I was looking into the BFC this year! It's definitely on my wishlist too, especially since I'm within driving distance

I suspect that there's a little more depth to laz than simply being a jerk, but I can see your perspective. Personally it's my favorite sporting event of the year. It being contrived is part of the appeal to me

We detoured to Frozen Head to absorb a little Barkley Marathons grit before this weekend's 100 miler. Just seeing The Gate left me a little breathless. I am such a nerd. #bm100

That doubt you're experiencing, that very edge of what you think you're capable of, that's where the growth happens. With each of your long runs, you've expanded what's possible bit by bit. It's not always linear, but you've put in the work and you can take this next step too. You're a badass. 💪

I was up before the sun again and decided to capture a timelapse while journaling. Maybe not as vibrant as yesterday's sunrise, but it's all graded on a generous curve in the mountains.

A quick 25 minutes before our friends' wedding. The dance floor moves will not be on Strava. #running

A bed by the window is a dangerous thing. As soon as I saw the first hint of dawn, I bundled up and quietly went outside. I wish I could capture this landscape in ink, but capturing in my journal the feelings it evoked was the next best thing. I can hear myself think out here.

I have a Kindle, but I'm simultaneously miffed at Amazon and attached to my physical bookshelf, despite the fact that I do read more with an e-reader. Maybe an October goal is to jail break my Kindle and buy books from another online seller...

Dubs across the board! That's a good month's work

Thanks, and the same to you! The sub 20 5K is the white whale of my adult running journey. I dedicated all of last summer to it, and only came up with a 20:09. One of these days...

Great goals! Very constructive, with a mandatory treat 😁

Greetings from the Great Smokys! If I had hills like this at home I'd be ready for Cocodona by Christmas! I took care to not blow up my legs the week before the race, but I otherwise gladly would have. Not even a peep from my ankle, thankfully. Absolutely magnificent run. #running

September 30 Day Challenge Results:

1. I did not read one book. I have screen time issues.
2. See #1.
3. I have been much better at staying on top of household tasks! This was a success for September.
4. My journals lost steam as the month went on. I'd like to continue working on this one.

It took a few minutes for my sleepy brain to truly understand that I didn't need to fetch the ACE bandage 😅 I'm running the Wolverine 100, a new point to point trail race across Michigan. I'm looking forward to it

I woke up from a dream that my ankle was properly sprained, swollen, and impossible to walk on. Imagine my relief that it was fine when I woke up! No #running today as a precaution. 8 days from my first 100 miler.

9 days from now. I think I've earned an extra comfy taper at this point

Bit of a cursed run. My right ankle said a pretty sharp hello upon making a left turn. Maybe some light peroneal tendonitis, if Dr Google can be believed. It doesn't hurt to run on, but why risk it this close to race day? I'll rest up and see where it's at tomorrow. #running

For the first time since our house was struck by lightning in May, I have a fully functioning desktop PC. It was the final piece of property on a long list of things that needed replaced. Feels good to finally have that entire debacle behind us.

That's one of my favorite phrases. Nothing but shorter easy runs from here on out, I promise! Besides an easy 13 on Saturday. Trying to be both rested and sharp on race day 🙏
