Turned down an alley near the train station.
A run-down building in a dirt lot. Some of the windows are boarded up. An air conditioner is still attached to an upper floor. Hard to tell if the building is being dismantled deliberately or just collapsing on its own. Another dilapidated building in a dirt lot. The windows are not boarded up and it almost seems like someone might still live there. A row of tightly-packed, run-down, possibly abandoned buildings. This is steps away from a busy train station, around the corner from a shopping district. A rusted metal fence, beyond which sits another ruined building.

Takoyaki hat!

Hitting up the neighborhood shrines. This is the dragon at Amanuma Kumano Jinja in Ogikubo. Wash your hands, kids!

Some friends I"ve made in Japan so far.

In 2017 a friend of mine did "Pacific Overtures" in NYC with Mr Takei. I met him very briefly and he was a delight. Later I took a photo of him standing in the street trying to remember where he parked while the rest of the cast stood on the sidewalk shouting, "George, get out of the street!"

Saw @themountaingoats.bsky.social on Wednesday at a venue close enough to my house that I walked to it and the superfan behind me sang along to almost every song. That's usually grounds for irrational hatred but his harmonies were tight as hell. Pretty good night.

Got not one, not two, but THREE vaccines today (covid, flu, pneumonia). I already took the adhesive bandages off so I guess this is just me showing off one of my tattoos. Anyway, glad to live somewhere that still believes in science.

Sometimes you take yourself to a club (Madame Lou's) to see a singer/songwriter you like (Samantha Crain) and she kicks ass and the show is over at 8:30 and it's still light out for your bike ride home. Pretty good Friday.
