Remarkably dry outlook in capital, we have to go back to 2017 when we last experienced an appreciably dry October.

Year to date #London Heathrow has seen 57% of its typical rainfall, this looks to fall further in coming weeks.

#StormAmy is on final approach the strongest winds are occurring on southwestern flank.

Damaging winds are now coming ashore recent gust of 93mph in Magilligan, Northern Ireland.

A closer look at #StormAmy which has potential to bring destructive 100mph winds in western fringes of Scotland on Friday night. The weekend as a whole looks quite usable further south, if rather breezy.

Communities in Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland should prepare for potentially violent winds on Friday night.

Still model uncertainty with exact track some models take #Amy further offshore. Impacts appear to be limited to far N UK those in these areas should follow the forecast closely.

I can confirm #London Heathrow experienced its coolest September in 8 years. An average temperature of 15.7C being -0.2C below recent 30-year average.

Near average month the slight cool anomaly was largely driven by cooler nights (-0.5C), whereas max (+0.1C).

A summery final day of September in SE with 20.7C at Heathrow and 20.8C at St James’s Park about 3C above average.
