Over next 10 days an especially significant rainfall deficit can be seen across Southern England and France. #dry #October
thesnowdreamer.bsky.social
Remarkably dry outlook in capital, we have to go back to 2017 when we last experienced an appreciably dry October.

Year to date #London Heathrow has seen 57% of its typical rainfall, this looks to fall further in coming weeks.

Quite widely breaking twenties across most of England with uninterrupted warm sunshine!

Not bad effort for October.

Clear blue skies in London to start new week 👍

October is often one of the most unsettled months in NW Europe but the outlook over next 2 weeks is significantly drier than average.

It feels more a question of how notably dry this year is going to be….

A pop of autumn colour against dark clouds. #London #Docklands

Not a fan of wind and rain? Then outlook is sensational, especially approaching next weekend a UK high is signalled. This would equate to widespread very calm conditions, cool and possibly foggy starts but pleasant bright days.

In recent minutes a wind gust of 96mph at low lying island of Tiree.

Danger to life winds are now affecting Western Isles of Scotland ⚠️ #StormAmy

#StormAmy is on final approach the strongest winds are occurring on southwestern flank.

Damaging winds are now coming ashore recent gust of 93mph in Magilligan, Northern Ireland.

Pretty awful performance from Met Office UKV model.

Rain band a lot more extensive further south making for a wet commute.

The nights are drawing in but abysmal light levels. It’s going to be a long winter 😀

A closer look at #StormAmy which has potential to bring destructive 100mph winds in western fringes of Scotland on Friday night. The weekend as a whole looks quite usable further south, if rather breezy.

Communities in Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland should prepare for potentially violent winds on Friday night.

Still model uncertainty with exact track some models take #Amy further offshore. Impacts appear to be limited to far N UK those in these areas should follow the forecast closely.

Compared to around summer solstice in later June we have lost 4 hours of daylight. We still have an additional near 4 hours to lose.

I can confirm #London Heathrow experienced its coolest September in 8 years. An average temperature of 15.7C being -0.2C below recent 30-year average.

Near average month the slight cool anomaly was largely driven by cooler nights (-0.5C), whereas max (+0.1C).
thesnowdreamer.bsky.social
A summery final day of September in SE with 20.7C at Heathrow and 20.8C at St James’s Park about 3C above average.

Prepare for a disturbed weekend the remnants of Ex-Hurricane Humberto are likely to bring strong winds and unsettled weather across UK. It looks to drag its heels.

Weather will start deteriorating on Friday…..
