Working on the Udemy course and I'm blown away by the great artwork that @reverentgeek.com did! It looks great and will absolutely help me stand out.

If you dig his style, why not work with him on your project? He's awesome!

Looking through the show notes for this week's @shutdownfullcast.bsky.social and goodness, can't wait to hear what wonderful winding path we're going to take to get here.

Pretty cool that you can use htmx to do service calls without using JS, I like the simplicity of this!

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

Even though I don't live in East TN anymore, the mountains always feel like home to me.

One of the more fun notifications I got when building out some Slack bot automations for my talk at connect.tech

People resonate with stories so one of the things I tried this time was building a story around how the Justice League reached out to you to so you could help them automate their work

And.... We're gearing up for day 2 of Connect.Tech!

Lots of good sessions on the docket for today, but if you're looking to learn how to build your own automation system, come check out my talk at 3pm in Salon E!

A common issue I run into with most software is distributing horizontal space. Not the functionality, but which icon to click on. Take a look at the bottom row, super clear on what does what.

Shout-out to lucidchart.com for making this super obvious!

I'm a big believer of telling stories as part of teaching and memes are a great way of helping the story go together.

A sneak peek at the presentation I'm giving at Connect.Tech on Tuesday.

Nice! I'm looking forward to recording a video on how you can use FP principles to tackle problems from Advent of Code! Shout out to Festive Tech Calendar for giving me the opportunity

It's taken me two weeks, tons of trials and errors, however, I finally figured out how to sharpen my chisels and plane such that I can get a buttery smooth cut on both face and end grain.

(excuse the weird angle as you need two hands to plane)

As an East Tennessee native, nothing sparks joy for me like seeing this.

Tennessee #1 in the SEC. No clue how long it'll last, but I love to see it.

And just like that, we've wrapped up the first Queen City Code Retreat!

Had a great time pairing up and learning with fellow engineers in the area

One of the skills I've been learning this year is getting more comfortable with chisels and hand tools when it comes to wood working.

I made my first attempt at a box joint yesterday and though its quite rough (working with pine and not quite sharp enough chisels will do that), good lessons learned
November 3, 2024 at 5:35 PM
It took me a bit longer than expected, but I accomplished a first, submitted a training course to Udemy!

Now just waiting for the approval.

I'm sure there are things that I could do better, but I learned a ton about editing video and how to organize my thoughts to cover a complex topic

Still waiting for the glue to dry, but got one task done this weekend, putting together a new woodworking workbench.

I'm looking forward to trying it out this weekend before making the trip to All Things Open
