Former cognitive anthropologist, former US tank gunner, former US bureaucrat, current IT teacher. ND AF, but mask on the daily to 'people' better.

I nerd out over whiskey, politics, technology, and the human condition.
I don't get why MAGA is so motivated to piss on Reiner's grave. I get that he was a public figure who critiqued them, but he didn't make a living from it nor did he harass them.

Addiction messes people up.

Didn't mean to imply otherwise. I'm just at that age where my body does not do well with sufganiyot and fried oils, and I bet I'm not alone, so I avoid them. I still celebrate, just in a modified way.

Inclusion of oil doesn't have to mean deep-fried. We like to mix it up - largely because we don't like how the house smells after cooking a dinner's worth of latkes.

We like a quinoa salad with a healthy amount of olive oil (and red wine vinegar) in it. Oily but healthy, yeah? Hag sameach hanukah!

CBS is now the American cheese of news.

They went right past FoxNews and straight to their own flavor of OAN. That's a choice, for sure.

"If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table."

Our country is being run by a troop of howler monkeys flinging feces at everything they don't like.

Looks like they ran out of bronzer and had him plunge his face in a cavernous bowl of Cheeto dust.

People used to dress up to fly back when airplane seats were generously-spaced and you didn't donate an hour of your life to a security line treating you like a terrorist.

Also, people used to dress up to fly back when only rich people could afford to fly.

In all fairness, Trump is using the fog of dementia to commit any number of similar crimes, so Pete's move is not without precedent in this administration.

While medical privacy concerns are legitimate, the WH physician should not participate in medical dishonesty such as he displayed over this event.

This wasn't a routine examination, it was a response to an urgent medical concern that required Walter Reed's facilities.

Is his brain compromised?

In addition, the White House needs to release the actual results of his most recent MoCA as well as the one he took several years ago. If they're both above 26, great.

If not, it's time for the 25th Amendment.

If the test results show him to be healthy, why on Earth does he increasingly look and act like someone who escaped the memory care wing of an expensive assisted-living facility?

He is visibly unwell. Their inability to acknowledge the obvious undermines their credibility across the board.

MRIs are not "routine" nor are they "preventative."

When a physician is trying to rule things out, MRIs provide a useful set of additional datapoints.

But it will start with a real problem that merits investigation. Why give a MoCA and order an MRI on a person's abdomen?

Make it make sense.
