The only option that kinda fits is Drancy, but it seems complicated to route from there to Gare de Lyon.

The medium term consequences of the current model of railway development will be a catastrophic decline in human development and a near total collapse of transport as a sector for anywhere that isn't China or Japan.

How far we can go is climate collapse. Thea Riofrancos has shown there aren't enough raw materials for electric car decarbonization. So the only "viable" way out is to ban planes and cars before any alternatives are built. Meanwhile worker pto gets gutted, leaving no time for multi day train trips.

China can manage higher average speeds on some current routes, but that's with 350km/h lines, and yes very few stops.

so a full rebuild would be the only option. there really is no hope of rail in europe ever being competitive with medium distance flights. the only zero carbon option is the time consuming luxury of slow travel.

Even if they upgraded the whole lgv sud est part of the route to 320km/h? Obviously they would never actually do that, but just hypothetically.

What would it take to get it down to about 4 hours?

It's annoying that switzerland hasn't reduced journey times along its main (IC1) line, like austria has. It still takes basically 2 hours to get from Geneva to Bern, and almost 3 from Geneva to Zürich. Those are way too long for those short distances.

CRRC are already within 60mph of achieving this speed with conventional trains. At this rate, the world will have 500km/h conventional high speed rail by 2040.

Technology transfer worked so well for China that they have now leapfrogged everyone else in green industry. Europe could easily do that to China, but the other way around. China is willing, and has even claimed that with similar levels of automation, it's no more expensive to manufacture in Europe.

What did you think of the later instalments of the Xeno series?

Même 350 crédits plus tard, il reste dans mon top 3.
