Faisal Mosque Officially: Shah Faisal Mosque. Location: Islamabad, Pakistan, at the foot of Margalla Hills. Significance: National mosque of Pakistan. Fifth-largest mosque in the world. Symbol of modern Islamic architecture. History: Built between 1976-1986 with funding from King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. Designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay, inspired by Bedouin tents. Architecture: Unique "freeform" design featuring a concrete shell and tent-like roof. Four minarets reaching 90 meters tall. Spacious prayer hall accommodating over 100,000 worshippers. Interior adorned with intricate mosaics and calligraphy.
