Where we live, a south city favorite is fried bologna, with Miracle Whip on white bread (has to be MW, not the real stuff). Honestly, it's one of my comfort foods. 57 yo & I still love it.
Maybe my palate is just simple.

Cheese & yellow mustard. Honestly, the best dog I've ever had in my life was from a street cart vendor in Toronto. Over 20 years ago, and I still remember it.

I've basically played games on my phone, while catching up with campaign 2 on Critical Role. Oh, and another ep of Franklin & Bash during dinner (it's a thing for the husband and I to watch something together).

My boy <<<< lives 4 hours away with his dad (retired military, last posting). I see him maybe once a month. It's *almost* worse than not having him at all. Almost.
If you can't do a bigger pet, maybe something small? Lots of folks have reptiles, hamsters, rats, etc.

A trick I learned from my aunt (if you didn't already do it) - add several tablespoons of white vinegar to your pan. Makes ham extra juicy. Excellent job for never making it before!

Many years ago, when we took in a tiny little stray, we could never decide on a name. Kept calling her The Cat, eventually shortening it down to TC. Hmm...I guess she did wind up with a name after all.
