Video editor, video game nerd, and Himbo enthusiast. I don't really know what to put in the description.
Also, I normally wouldn't bring that up, but this is a special case. The main person who pushed this interpretation of Steven Universe, Lily Orchard, is well documented as a terrible person and called Rebecca Sugar (a Jewish woman) a Nazi herself in the video.

Steven also doesn't even really forgive them right away, it literally takes years in the narrative, he just tolerates working with them to heal the corrupt gems, but he still harbors a lot of bitterness towards them as we see in Future.

If you want to see translation of Jokes in the other direction, this video does a wonderful job explaining it using Bojack Horseman's Japanese localization (and the difference between localizing subtitles vs voices). youtu.be/p3mXrC4sv1Y?...

Both refer to the same innuendo and both are accurate descriptors for Zeke (he has a pet turtle and he has an eye patch). Plus Nia also casually calls him shellhead as a fun nickname (which doesnt illicit the same reaction on english obviously).

I always like using this scene in Xenoblade 2 as a great example of localizing a joke (we're focusing on the text, not the voices). In Japanese he's called "turtle-head" and in English its "one-eyed monster". youtu.be/XMBRC1dHALY?...

There's also the early Disney Channel original movie "Twas the Night" where Bryan Cranston channels the Grinch, and it kind of slaps honestly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-qF...

I know a lot of it is anti-localization people who think all localizers have a malicious agenda, so they'd deal with AI slop than actual dub actors and localized scripts.

I beat Malenia with a Sorcery Build and Summons. I will not be told it doesnt count, because I learned to dodge butterfly dance, and did trial and error to figure out the best ways to take her down. If you're using the tools the game gives you, any win is legitimate.

Anytime I play a Pokemon game now, I build a monotype team like a.gym leader, which is a fun challenge. And sometimes I discover Malamar completely breaks the final boss of USUM with Topsy Turvy and you can one beat it in two turns underlleveled. And thats still satisfying.

Reminds me of being explained to why we cant use Wikipedia as a source in school, and then discovering that Wikipedia is an excellent tool to FIND sources, since I can just use the links that are cited on an article. Like as annoying the Google AI is, I appreciate it having the links to the side.

Always got my crustaceous companion Altarf by my side, and when I'm feeling a little weary he can grow in size and I can ride on his shoulders instead.
