Imagine if a company hired you. On your first day of work, you look around, and there is no job description. You feel urgency and stress, because you know people are depending on you to do a good job, but you have no idea what to do or how. You don't know what the people who hired you want you to do and neither do they. They have just put all their hopes into hiring you. That was their end game. They expect you to change everything in their lives for the better, but they neither know nor care how. As a software developer, this is not a completely foreign situation for me to imagine. I wrote in How to Dismantle a Dictatorship about the rise of the tech oligarchy, and how it was the result of unbridled adulation with no direction or oversight. Politicians are often in the exact same position.

Sad to say Aetna PPO pulled out of my very red county and while signing up with HMO was easy, i CANNOT access new portal until Jan 1, 2026.
