Wow! Uprising was utterly extraordinary. It was the combination of the sumptuous score, the young voices of school children and the subject matter that just blew me away!

The teenage and community chorus for this production have been amazing. One show left at 3pm today.
What a privilege for our young people at SWCHS to sing in Jonathan Dove’s new opera about climate change and the climate strikes. ‘Uprising’ is on at Saffron Hall this weekend and we can’t wait!

Hoping my eggs are in the right basket. I’m not going back to the other places and only have energy for one. So far, I like it.

I agree and neglected this in my last post. It is poetic and moving. Lines keep popping into my head. Whilst I’m here again Uprising was initiated by philanthropist Jim Potter - who sadly won’t see it but April has captured his spirit and philosophy.
@timashash.bsky.social has reviewed a new opera by Jonathan Dove but there's no mention of librettist April de Angelis, despite the work having "a didactic parable, reminiscent of Brecht and Weill".The Guardian should update the review to acknowledge de Angelis. www.theguardian.com/music/2025/m...

After a Full weekend of rehearsals for our semi staging of Uprising with massed forces of community choruses, drummers etc - it’s clear Jonathan Dove has written another masterpiece. You will cry.
