I think he was trying to send a message like Conte. Meaning I only have 12 or 13 good enough players, so I’m going to keep using only them.

Took to long to use Spence and Lucas. Could have used Gray as full back to give a break to Udogie and Porro. Could have used Lankshear and Moore in games that were finished by 70mins. He had multiple opportunities to use the bench, but basically only did when his hand was forced.

I think it became stubbornness at one point, because he kept making the same thing after there was enough evidence that the players would break. And then he had to rely one the fringe players. Bisouma’s comeback being evidence that he could have used these other players earlier.
