bat eater and other names for cora zeng. wish it signaled earlier if this was psychological horror or supernatural horror (latter, elements of the former) but overall pretty good read. the horror of ocd/psychosis(?) while a pandemic is also legitimizing the intrusive thoughts

the bright sword by lev grossman. fun! enjoyable even though i only know the rough shapes of arthurian legend. i liked the fairy tale/mythical tone to the prose and the inclusion of a diverse cast. but i think grossman still likes writing men too much to respect women

asunder by kerstin hall. this was a great fantasy story (with an obvious sequel hook) but just like. i wasn't expecting it to be m/f🧍. really cool worldbuilding, and the characters are all really well developed. love bodysharing tropes

the traitor baru cormorant by seth dickinson. reread! still very good, hits in all the good places. will need to pick up monster and tyrant eventually to continue. infeasibility of using the master's tools to dismantle the master's house, etc
