Calvin and Hobbes is one of the greatest works in all history.

That said, there are excellent examples from just about any kind of media.

..I wasn't referring to starting last spring on acquiring nukes. I was referring to increasing the capacity for conventional defense.

A lot of this happens on an individual level. Investors sell out as individuals and then move on personally. There are plenty of people who are all-in, but it's far from uncommon to just sell your stake.

Something to say about this? I'm wondering if someone is going to torpedo a US ship on stationkeeping and blame the Venezuelans.

Wow, it's like they went for the dumbest of all possible worlds.

It's not a matter of insulting, or speaking down to people. The short of it is that if you really want something to happen, you need to be able to express what you want, particularly in the political forum. There's no way to get people on your side if you can't communicate with them.

gains, sorry. Secondly, there are politics, and protests and objections work best with clear, obvious objectives. If you want things to get better, you need to be able to express what you want in simple, clear, obvious terms. Particularly when you're pushing to make things better.

The other side of that is that visionaries are absolutely necessary. We need people to ask the big questions as well as people who accomplish the games. If there really are few reasons we can't do something, or we can identify a limited number of challenges, you need someone pushing for it, too.

Started last spring.

It's not just violence. If all he wanted to do was to blow stuff up and see it happen, he could have just funded and provided arms to Ukraine. Setting the terms as 'show me lots of videos of stuff, and people, blowing up', they would have been happy to provide.

It's been heavily expanded since last spring, so it isn't starting from zero.

This morning, the military recruitment portal went down due to excessive traffic.

Pure identity politics, like "He is a liberal, not a leftist" or "Someone I hate gave him money" isn't really fixable. If there's no action or policies which put a guy in one category or the other, then it's just labelling, which strikes me as stupid. Similarly for the latter.

I'm not kidding. I have no reason or desire to mock or yell at people for supporting, or opposing, Newsom. What I'm concerned at are reasons. "I feel Newsom should do more about this policy" is fixable and reasonable, IMO. Same for "I like these policies he's already done."

Overall, I'm more than fine with a mainline dem who explicitly supports trans people and immigrants. I'm just not going to go all-in on him at this point when there are other challengers and I can see good alternatives.

That said, thank you for your listing of things he has done which you support.

Same time I am going to make the point that progressive is as progressive does. Not all those examples were his choice, and there are still outstanding questions like his resistance to raising taxes on the rich. The entire Dem party supports 90% of those positions, not the prog wing in specific.
