What I really took against is how every other Alien movie made a women the hero, and Covenent made both Shaw and Daniels victims. It felt like it went against what the Alien series had been about. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

I broadly agree but man, I did not care for Covenant...

It's a movie that starts well, gets better as it goes along, ends brilliantly. An excellent comedy but also a brilliant adventure film.

He was also working the entire time, doing more work than anyone had ever done, whilst having Christmas dinner and running a marathon.

And he even followed it up with a film so bad it gave Roger Ebert one of his best bad reviews www.rogerebert.com/reviews/nort...
I mean, if you're going to come to a halt on a run like that, that's the way to do it!
What a hero. What a run.

You don't need a beautiful pair of burgundy leather knee-high boots.

But imagine if you had them...

I find it pretty boring, structurally it's very odd (4 times someone lands on plant, someone gets killed and it ends in an explosion, like that was their only idea), and the ending telegraphs what's going to happen so clearly that there's no tension in it

It totally tracks that Elon is the guy who thinks the party is improved by someone taking out their phone.
Also that the funniest thing he can think of is 'being mean to my friend'.

Following my local club, seeing them get into Europe, felt a little like that, but it sure beats following the Premier League

I myself had many doubts! But... what a feeling!!!

Don't tempt fate when there's over 10 minutes left, Miguel...

It's getting more miraculous!
November 13, 2025 at 9:09 PM
Yeah, what the hell is happening in Dublin???
November 13, 2025 at 8:53 PM
That's a bold claim! And yet, not sure I can mount a counter claim against it... incredible film
November 13, 2025 at 4:55 PM
I did, and it fucking rules!!!!
November 7, 2025 at 10:12 PM
This is the thing I don't see talked about enough- if AI takes enough of the jobs, companies relying on the people who lost jobs will close, meaning fewer companies paying for AI, meaning more job losses... why is no one talking about it? It's not hard to understand!

The gods are angry, and are firing arrows!
November 7, 2025 at 8:15 PM
There probably are, but it's like 'can map the structure of a chemical emzyne' or something, not 'can AI prove eugenics right?'
November 7, 2025 at 11:14 AM
This is bananas
November 7, 2025 at 9:19 AM
I feel like somewhere in all of this, it's about someone cashing out or getting into a position to do so or something like that. Surely, at some point someone will call 'enough' and sell up
