The REX in Bern is doing a small retrospective in February. I’ve binged all of the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions (20 years ago), I should manage Satantango.

Scary stuff. It also highlights why I dislike a lot of TAL’s musical choices: so often, the whimsy of the music clashes with the material, and not in interesting ways. I sometimes wish there were music-less versions of the (otherwise very good) episodes.

Very cool! So much looking forward to replaying these classics in the version you’re putting together. I think I’ve asked about links to Exult before, but is it likely any Exult music will end up in this? I’m asking because one or two of the tracks are mine.

The Britell score made me wish even more that Jay Kelly had even some of the satirical edge of Succession. Its utterly milquetoast satire in service of Hollywood masturbation sank it for me.
