So...I have to run things to detect 8088/8086, then run my 80286 check.
I got about 70% of the way there...getting ready to translate the functional directions in to assembly...and wound up finding an example that did 99% of what I wanted.
I still had to make it do things after detection.

l literally canceled all my trips this year that involve air travel. Now I realize overall air is still safe and these incidents are reported because incidents are so rare.
But there has been enough of a connection that I have concerns. Boeing is not a safe aircraft right now.
