We now allow them, but installation has to come with either:

- Guaranteed ops funding (hasn't happened yet but a few are planned)

- Guaranteed third party maintenance like Urban Districts, BIDs, or private interests (several have been built: likely the more frequent path going forward)

And now we have groups of 6 soldiers and 2 MPD officers just slowly milling about still doing the same amount of nothing they were doing before, because Efficiency

Councilmember Allen has draft emergency legislation to pause these actions & force a rethink. I haven't been tuned in enough to know where other councilmembers are on it.

Not doubting what you've heard, but I haven't heard parking revenue mentioned before.

Every DDOT message we've received at our ANCs has been about dilapidated streateries

(of which across all of DC so far I've only ever seen one, and I still rather preferred it to cars)
