i wonder if i'd have felt it as strongly (if at all) if this came out, say, 2 years ago *shrug*

i'll say having that similar-ish experience softened my view of this book/movie... life really happens like that sometimes apparently

uh ran out of steam all of a sudden... but i think that's it bye

now to get to the point.... this movie reflected back to me both the things i need to hear, the things i wonder about aloud after all this time... there's also the feeling of it hitting close to home for me in other ways

on to the spoilery and personal stuff!

this movie made me cry a bunch because like bridget, i lost my father, too. it's been long enough that there is a feeling of having moved on, but still fresh enough that there's a feeling of the opposite... at the same time.

- proud of myself at the realisation that i am indeed watching /for/ bridget. the person she ends up with doesn't really matter, i'm just glad to have had one last romp with her. (oh who am i kidding? it does matter, because i'm only human)

- shazzer, jude, and tom!!!!
- easter eggs
- shame this was directed by a man, but in the female gaze-y bits, he gets it lol
- the mum and kids parts of this almost made me want to have my own
- minor franchise continuity things that bother me but i think that's on me

- renee was so good!!! her dynamic with everyone is *mwah*
- the mark scenes are so effective (well that or i am just Going Through It)
- chiwetel ejiofor, can, uh Speak to me (i'll **** his *******)
- (so can hugh grant actually)
- as per usual the soundtrack slaps
- dr. rawlings!

i like it. so much so that i wanna read the book now and i wish i did before the movie came out. though, the way it ended up is fine too...
