Someone needs to make a movie about this to drive home how horrific it is, then take that movie on a tour of churches, and then maybe we could flip the script on evangelical support of abortions. They were neutral before such a tour was done to convince them that abortions are immoral.

I think that there are a lot of people who are looking for ways to do something, but don't really know how to outside of elections. We see this huge wave of bad coming and many of the proposed actions seem too small or ineffective. People are regrouping, and that might be a good thing.

(The gov. placed upper income limits for families in public housing in the 1950s in response to pressure from real estate lobbyists. Without the middle income families' rent $, the condition of public housing got worse, and then its reputation did too.)

Make good quality public housing that includes middle incomes, is more dense than market rate housing, and is a bit more affordable. The gov. did this back in the 1930s and 40s. Developers want to build bigger houses to get more profit, but that contributes to urban sprawl and long term emissions.

I second that! NEPA/CEQA seems to be the #1 tool for stopping housing from being built. Changes to those laws are essential for moving construction forward in a timely and predictable way.

Sister District Project works on getting progressive candidates elected in close state legislatures. They organize support from deep blue states to purple states, like PA and NC. So if you're looking for ways to protect people's voting rights (and other rights), that's one way to get involved.

Consider instead pointing to what he's doing as a betrayal of their vote for him. "He said he would lower costs for you but he's making things more expensive."
If you say, "you voted for this," they might be more inclined to double down.

Also Empire City, by Chenjerai Kumanyika. It's about the history of the NYPD.

That's true, and it might be something we can work on. I'm going to try connecting some of the issues people bring up with policies, when talking with some of the low-info folks in my life. Need to start somewhere, right?

Good people to talk with about politics from time to time! Help fill in that gap.
