“Reading makes immigrants of us all. It takes us away from home, but more important, it finds homes for us everywhere.” - Jean Rhys
“We are all stories, in the end.” ✨
As a Latina who grew up on folklore and now shares those cuentos with my kids, The Last Cuentista moved me deeply. It reminded me how stories keep our culture and memories alive.

Just finished Midnight at the Blackbird Café and my heart is full. 🌙✨ A story about family, friendship, forgiveness, and the quiet magic of healing. It reminded me that food really can nourish the soul and connect us to the people we love. A warm, beautiful read I won’t soon forget.

Just finished Erasing History by Jason Stanley. It’s a chilling reminder that erasing the past is never neutral—it’s about power, truth, and who gets to decide what we remember. Cultural institutions + media often become battlegrounds in this fight.

Finished The Personal Librarian, and my heart is heavy. Belle lived brilliance in silence, hiding her truth to be seen, to survive. Over a century later, so many still carry that same quiet burden. Her story lingers. If you read one book this year—let it be this one.

Amrou shares their journey as they struggle to find their place and self acceptance. Some chapters of the book are so raw that you will experience many different emotions at once. Other chapters will have you cheering the author on and snapping your fingers! ❤️‍🩹🫰👑

Family isn’t always the people you grew up with, but those you met along the way. The Only Purple House in House gave some much needed feel good vibes! Am looking forward to reading book by Ann Aguirre.

This retelling of Medusa’s story is from her POV. It will make you experience so many emotions. I found myself angry with those around her and Athena. In this story Perseus learns the truth of Medusa’s story yet chooses not to share it.

This is the first book I have read by Marcie Rendon. It was an emotional roller coaster, I could not put the book down.

I want to share a quote from this book that resonated with me “Those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past, control the future”. It seems so fitting with the current US government’s censorship of media and government websites.

Stopped by @PierceCountyLibrary during lunch to pick up the books the family had on hold. Also got my renewed library card 🥰.
