A thoughtful human. A quiet life. I work a lot. Instructional designer. Content strategist. Content developer. Edtech. AI-related skills. Stay-at-home extrovert. DIYer (including household appliances). Gardener. I sing in the car.
Yesterday, on Interstate 540, between milepost 8 and milepost 7, headed west I saw a spray-painted swastika (blue on gray infrastructure).

I'm not frequently on that road, but if I drive by again and traffic is not heavy, I will try to capture a photo.

Heavy sigh.

BREAKING: Trump and Republicans say they’ll focus their efforts on defeating Native American candidate Deb Haaland, who is running for governor of New Mexico.

She has protected sacred lands and stood up to bullies. It’s obvious why they want her to lose.

So I’m in North Carolina overnight tonight. It’s supposed to be somewhere between 10 and 19°F. I think it’s time tonight to take a cup of water outside and see if I can toss it up into the air and make ice! This is going to be fun!

Yesterday's lesson: You might have free speech, but the communication methods available to you are not enshrined as protected processes. We do not have freedom of choice.

Over these next few years, how to we protect access to communication, free speech, and knowledge?

I am in incredibly sad as really enjoyed the TikTok platform for educational content as well. I don’t know if people know that there is a whole STEM section, in addition to the other educational content.

Excited for my first post on Bluesky to be a new preprint announcement! Read about the effect of PFAS chemicals PFOA and Gen X on sea urchin larval development; we characterize defects to skeletal patterning, neural development and function and more. 🧪👩‍🔬🌊

Tomorrow would have been the 87th birthday of legendary Filipina microbiologist Roseli Ocampo-Friedmann, who covered the globe looking for organisms in extreme environments, and collected over 1000 of them, including in the Dry Valley region of Antarctica.

Is it just me, or does anyone else wish for the ability to sort tables within #Microsoft #Word documents?

@mscommunity.bsky.social Please consider someday adding this feature. Thank you.

#DIYlife. Last weekend, I replaced a worn-out wheel in a dryer. This morning, I replaced a diverter bathtub spout. I think I'll replace the filter insert for the same bathroom next weekend. It's not an issue yet, but I'm trying to stay ahead of the curve.
