Ugh. I've occasionally bought service manuals online, and although I don't know if they've ever actually helped me fix an appliance, it is fun to learn how to go into service mode.

What’s the washing machine doing? Although in my experience washing machines are one of the least DIY repairable appliances. But appliancepartspros.com has good videos.

In physics, we rely much less on illustrations, but we heavily use quantitative graphs. Reading papers from the ~1950s, I'm struck by the quality and legibility of draftsman-drawn plots, compared to so many of today's computer generated plots.

I read in "The Secret Life of Groceries" that scammy "get your CDL" training organizations push folks into the "owner-operator" model where you earn subsistence wages at best and from which it is very hard to ever break out of.

Bondi purports to appoint an “emergency police commissioner” and orders specific DC policy on sanctuary laws to be deleted from police guidance.

I’m no expert, but this seems illegal under the Home Rule Act, which says only that the President may direct DC police to “provide services.”

Wow! I remember being there on some beautiful summer afternoon and everyone was enjoying it but wait--it was 5 oclock so the rangers had to drive around shooing everyone out of the place.
