Thich Quang Duc was a Buddhist monk who burned alive to protest the mistreatment of Buddhists in Vietnam. He did so in total silence, unlike those surrounding him. His heart managed to survive the burning. (CW: link to man burning alive) https://is.gd/8J62xW

Valery Sablin was furious by the dictatorship of the Soviet Union. He tried to start a revolution and unseat the government, but he failed. Before his execution, he sent his son a letter, encouraging him to always have hope and believe in a better world:

Greek Orthodox priest Dimitrios Chryostomos, who refused to provide a list of Jews living in Zakynthos to the Nazis, saving hundreds:

> Chrysostomos took a piece of paper, wrote his own name on it and handed it over. "Here is the list of Jews you require," he said.

Reason, which is that Law, teaches all Mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his Life, Health, Liberty, or Possessions

the people who advocate for stronger “trust and safety” never seems to take the time to explain where the trust actually comes from. how does that moderation team actually earn and maintain trust? how do users opt out of its decisions?

Anti-nuclear proliferation is racist and evil. It's saying that poor countries aren't allowed to get nuclear energy because they're too violent and backwards, unlike the enlightened West.

(They're not allowed to buy pre-enriched fuel, either. Can't possibly risk the global south ending up like us!)

Is there anything that FDR did that wouldn't fit into a GigaChad meme?

- Doesn't like supreme court, tries to make his own
- Racist against Germans and Japanese. Sends them to internment camps to assert dominance
- Thinks food is to cheap. Destroys it to raise prices; farm incomes up 50% in 3 years

When was the final time you thought an anarchist society built around volunteers was possible?

For me, it was my first blood donation. I instinctively looked around the blood bank, realizing that literally every part of the blood bank but the donors was built by capitalist society, not volunteering
