My best friend nearly froze his last winter on the streets here in Ottawa and spent several days in ICU. Thankfully, he is now housed. We came across the frozen body of a homeless person once.

I have no sympathy for landlords. The entire arrangement is predatory, exploitative, and perpetuates a situation where the wealthy own the homes of the poor. Housing is made inherently unstable for the lower income residents, just so the rich can get richer.
