You forgot:

Give way to pedestrians at junctions: Get grief.

And...

Use a bright light: Get grief.

For fun, I recently used ChatGPT and its "PhD-level intelligence" to help me plan a car-free day out with the kids.

It suggested a museum that was closed, an 8-hour bus/train journey, and generic suggestions like a picnic, walk in the woods, and "playground." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
More holidaymakers using AI to plan trips

I wonder if the town centre is really struggling (any more than the average high street). It's buzzing every time we visit and seems to have a lot of new shops.

My grandad (now 94) witnessed the bombing from a hill about a mile from the town centre.

There's still a massive bomb crater on Lenthay Common, just outside Sherborne. It fills with water every winter. I read that they attacked Sherborne because they became disoriented and thought it was Yeovil, as both towns had a railway taking a similar route to the south.

It's so annoying when Trainline offers a cheaper inflexible ticket when the flexible one is about 50p more expensive.

They also need to stop with the "Get ready for [destination]" auto-emails, especially when you're just popping to the next station on the line.

I went into a fake barbershop and came out with a pedicure.

All the crossings near our school have "stop, look, and listen" on the pavements at junctions. According to the council, though, having "Give way to pedestrians" on the road would "set a precedent", so they won't do it.

Paywalls are a godsend for the fossil fuel lobby as its only the headline - which the author probably didn't even write - rather than the substance of the piece that's seen.

I'd love to see someone dressing up as a clown and standing next to these with a placard that says "We've been brainwashed by the fossil fuel lobby."

It's unlike the Telegraph to be dishonest... I can't believe we were taught at school that the broadsheets can be trusted.

England next please. At the moment, I can't afford to go anywhere on the train when I have to be back for the school pick up at 3.15. When I do splash out on an earlier train, it's dead. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Peak time rail fares srapped on ScotRail trains
Some routes will see fares fall by as much as 50% at busy times, but on others prices will be unchanged.

The Ofgem press release quoted in the stories about this I've seen doesn't even mention wind power, but it does mention balancing. I think the right-wing press has made its own conclusions. www.ofgem.gov.uk/press-releas...

Odd there's nothing in the data (as far as I can tell) about miles travelled per trip. Wonder if that's because it would make uncomfortable reading regarding car trips as the data must have been gathered?

It seems the only way I can take soil to my local tip is by car as the booking needs a number plate. (I usually cycle to beat the queues.)

Lambert's Castle? I did a 50K a couple of weeks back and this was about 2/3's in. Brutal.

Are you trying to say the cars don't enhance this vista?

Lovely how she's referencing what she last heard in 1997.

It feels like my local train service is on its last legs (or wheels).

Terminated midway through its journey this morning due to "dangerous overcrowding" because the train company could only muster 3 carriages instead of the usual 8.

On my return, the air con is broken - it's 33C today.

I was tempted to reply to that letter but you're much more qualified!
