This Halloween eve Ran and I ventured down to Flemington to participate in #frightlinesmic. An open mic night for scary stories. Took a leap and read 5 of my 100 word stories. Nervous as hell reading my stories out loud but it was an awesome event and a great way to celebrate the high holy holiday.

Wake up. Head splitting. Eyes can’t adjust. Sound in the distance. Is that a drill? Shrieking and high pitched. No, this can’t be. Coming to now. Fish tank burbling in the corner. Daytime talk show blaring. Water machine gurgles, little paper cups lined up next to it. I blink.

Bit of a lull since my last post. Had a meeting with 2 members of a local writing group yesterday. Invited to their next meeting to see if it’s a good fit. Have them some samples of my work and hoping for the best. It did spark a writing session which hadn’t happened in a while.

Celebrated my 38th with wife’s family yesterday.
It was a quiet day of rest and contemplation. Have a lot planned for the upcoming year and feel as well positioned to tackle them all. More so then I ever have before.
Birthday optimism? Or a sign of a strong start? Only time will tell.

Celebrated my 38th with wife’s family yesterday.

Watched ‘Horror in the High Desert’ after a recommendation that it was one of the best documentaries out there. Without any research I dove in.
I was terrified. The last 15 minutes were truly haunting.
Then I find it out it’s a mockumentary and not real at all!

Hoodwinked! Bamboozled!
Watched ‘Horror in the High Desert’ after a recommendation that it was one of the best documentaries out there. Without any research I dove in.
I was terrified. The last 15 minutes were truly haunting.
Then I find it out it’s a mockumentary and not real at all!

Won my first solo battleground in Hearthstone last night. High energy and a fun stress in the later rounds. Divine shields and Deathrattles were my friend.

We haven’t turned our heat on for the season until we can get someone to come out and do furnace maintenance.
To mitigate, we’ve been using the wood burning stove, which normally has been for relaxing evenings.
I have been pleasantly surprised with how effective it is at warming the whole house.
