#genai should not make us fast and skip thinking, here is how it can make you slower and more reflexive - not least in #academia

The US playbook for attacking #universities could well be used in Europe as well.

#sustainability is a culture, not a department.

I really like this example of sustainability in a #university - starting with awareness of where the institution is, and then getting practical.

Can #AI promote equity and inclusion in education? Certainly yes! Here are some examples well argued here by M McKenzie (S. Andrews) & E Spaeth ( @advancehe.bsky.social‬)

Going against the #generativeAI anti-hype - interesting arguments why we should take progress in the latest models more seriously.

Thinking a lot about the future of #highered, this is an important signal: a cancelled course being continued outside the context of the university:

"They can try to cancel us all they want. But this is the community we are going to build anyway."

Is the future of #academicfreedom an […]

#sustainability action requires a vision - example from #HES-SO in Western Switzerland how to apply #FuturesThinking for that vision:

The promise of AI in education is it will save educators time. That's rubbish. It's sapping all our time already in working groups, committees, workshops, and marking anxiety. It's the most time-sapping, exhausting and frankly boring thing I've ever encountered in HE - and it's in my research area.

Are #universities being taken over by the "analytics-industrial complex"? Maybe, but I think the author conflates actual developments and data company dreams and sales pitches.
