Also, one thing we found was that when I was trying to contact them, the return messages were being sent to my wife's email and not mine. Feels like they've got some backend issues. Reports of data outages in other parts of Amazon business from 11/11-13. Might be related.

This might not be your problem, but I logged out of my account and clicked on the KDP link from Google and it brought me back to my account and it's NOT terminated. Don't know if I got that in error, or if something is screwed up behind the scenes with Amazon, but it's worth a try.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I have no idea why either. I've been publishing on KDP for 15 years. After talking to some other authors, it sounds like this has been happening more lately. Maybe a behind the scenes bot problem.
