Look, even if these attacks were completely legitimate acts of national defense (they aren't), treating the killing of people like it's entertainment, rather than a terrible but perhaps necessary evil, is depraved and sickening.

The 80s really were that moment when Anything Feels Possible With Too Much Cocaine, but the results were way more disappointing and incoherent than so many other cultural milestones of the Too Much Cocaine vanguard (see also: "There's A Riot Goin' On" by Sly and the Family Stone).

Seriously, whichever wag wrote in their review something to the effect of "it's a mix of Ezra Pound and Barbie" wrote something of far greater consequence than the entirety of Nuzzi's body of work.

I guess what I'm saying is, for all the theatrical cruelty & dumbassery you see on your screens every day, there is 10X that amount of damage being done behind the scenes. Simply getting these fucks out of office won't fix all this -- repair will take many decades.

Parts of the federal gov't that most people never think about -- research orgs, safety regs, low-income programs, etc. -- are being degraded & destroyed, with no one to notice or mourn them. But every bit of it erodes the foundations of US power & prosperity, carefully laid over decades.
