Tax in Denmark is higher. But the top tax is only ~5% higher in Scandinavia than NY (adding up federal, state, city). It's a choice that Scandinavia (and other U countries) covers healthcare, college etc with taxes and the US has decided to spend it on military and fossil fuel it's a choice.
