It goes into that weird thing that genuine appreciation is somehow considered less intellectual than criticism but everybody is getting trained to be such a cynical unfeeling asshole nowadays that I find the smartest people often are the “hell yeah cool song/drawing/story/video” people

full disclosure, I do still use the free version of Spotify for some playlists; it's just so annoying to recreate elsewhere

but it's just true that the more people can wean off that platform, the better

Apple, Tidal, hell YouTube Music are all better on a per-stream basis (though none are all that great)

I may need to go the Bandcamp route in the future as distributers have gotten worse too
