I've tried to play this on no fewer than five occasions and bounced off inside of 2 hours each time.

I spent years hanging out on AvP forums in my youth and I still can't stomach it.

They are small relative to publisher flagship games, but they're not indie-scale, no.

There is a big gulf between these ~100 Full time equivalent staff projects and Halo or Call of Duty. AAA as a category is probably too vague if we're bundling ~40 million dollar projects in with ~350 mln ones.

Is a refresh rate multiple of 4 the minimum needed to make it convincing?

I presume this will also create the unpleasant flicker of a crt, so I'd also be interested in simulations of 85hz+ pc monitors which helped a lot on that front.

If you think about it, every game Nintendo develops is "Self Published". Tears of the Kingdom was robbed of their Best Indie award.
