“AI provides a more credible solution.”

Okay???? Then @ me when it comes up with a credible solution then. Cause right now, it’s the problem. Let’s talk reality not your fantasy about AI and LLMs solving a problem we already have a decent roadmap on how to solve.

Fashion is not inherently evil; however the practices and industry of fashion have been and continue to be evil. That’s capitalism for you.

Clothes aren’t evil. The people forcing others to make the clothes can be though! Weak argument from you there, if I’m being honest.

Also you’re right here: bsky.app/profile/macv...

Social change is not a solution. Government regulation - akin to int’l policy that fixed the hole in the ozone - is necessary. In the meantime, i have no issue with individuals fighting against climate change with what they have available to them.
I don't think you're really understanding my argument here. It is:

1. Social change is not a solution to climate change. There has never been a policy on the table with any impact.

2. Fashion is not inherently evil, so why is AI?

3. AI provides a more credible solution (tech/science advancement.)

You have to see the logical flaw in your last couple sentences: “we should continue to pollute our environment for AI because AI might save us from pollution”

Replace “pollute” w/ “emit carbon” or “waste water” - same illogical reasoning. AI will not save us from AI. Thinking so is wishful thinking
January 27, 2026 at 2:04 AM
Basically, you’re doing a whataboutism when we should be asking “what about we reduce carbon emissions across the board?” instead of playing the “well this industry is worse!” game.

As an aside, we don’t need AI. We do need clothes. Flawed comparison at the start, imo.

You’re minimizing the impact AI has on climate change by saying “well this OTHER industry contributes MORE to climate change.”

That’s not a reason to let AI off the hook.

If anything, that’s a reason to regulate AI and fashion (and many other industries) to alleviate their impact on our climate.

Now is not the time for these puff pieces, Forbes
January 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM
Thankfully, it’s not
January 26, 2026 at 9:57 AM
Do you honestly not see why that’s a terrible justification?

Thing X is bad for the environment yet people are still using it and that industry around it is growing.

Yes! Amd Thing Y is bad for the environment and production of Thing Y has increased 60% over 10 years!

Let’s not critique either.

You don’t deserve any attention. You’re just posting this here and on other threads as rage bait. You have no coherent beliefs worth learning about. The overseas paycheck for running your botfarm is not worth sacrificing your soul.

Also, although i made my other reply first, your point here is off-topic. Housing being commodified requires more work than if it wasn’t. My point is not a comparison of us vs hunter-gathers, my point is a comparison of us w/ corporate landlords vs us w/o corporate landlords.

Not commenting on the actual hours per week but medieval peasants had more free time than we have currently. What’s the point of technological advancements if they aren’t making our lives more efficient and fulfilling? Why can’t we have 3-4 day workweeks?
May 2, 2025 at 12:16 AM
If we reorganized our current system of land ownership & housing to get closer to how it used to be structured, most people would be better off overall (the main exception being landlords).
May 1, 2025 at 9:21 AM
I think you have misconstrued Hilary’s point. My takeaway from her statement is that the commodification and privatization of land has forced us to work more hours to afford the basic human right of housing. Not that tech, medicine, etc was better back then.

Seems like The Onion is using the former to skewer the fact the latter still exists:

“At press time, reports confirmed the exhibit had been closed after the patch pulled a trainer into the water and drowned him before partially consuming his body.”

I’m sure there are other signs but him vetoing a bill that would have decriminalized mushrooms for those 21 & up in California made it so clear he’s running in 2028 and didn’t want to defend “legalized psychedelics” to Iowans.

You’re turning into the guy who sneaks “in nineteen ninety eight the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table” into reddit comments just for the phrase “alternative rock” and on bluesky. 😂
