I think that depends upon how long a time span and how many nations you are willing to include in the term normal. Historically, over many hundreds of years, this really is pretty normal.

The altered picture makes me more sorry for her, but then, I have ethics and morals and stuff like that. Empathy, exactly the kind of thing the people they altered the picture for do not have.

Speaking as an American, I think when people say un-American what they mean is against our aspirations. And when I say OUR aspirations, I just mean those of us who hold those aspirations.

In fairness, this is happening more and more often with people who do have a reasonable amount of Fame among consumers of entertainment who are under 40 years old. And, of course, I could have googled them.

The fear of dying is perfectly normal and natural. And are you absolutely certain that they can't do that thing you said they can't do? It's starting to look like maybe they can, or at least, make some big inroads on the job.
