Not being familiar with them due to the Science! Boys! rule, the design proportions remind me of the late 70s Bang & Olufsen Beomaster* stereo my posh mate's dad worshipped.
(*except manky beige plastic, obviously)

The room was locked, even when in use. Other kids used to watch them through the glass like they were in a zoo! 😄
