I loved everything about this except some of the dialogue sounded too modern for the setting, and it kept pulling me out of the story. Looking forward to the sequel, though!

I have started this book and put it down twice. I don't get the people who enjoyed it.

Your description of this book reminds me of how I felt after reading "Blindness" by Jose Saramago. I was young and naive when I read it, and it broke my foolish optimism wide open.

I literally had to change the audiobook I was falling asleep to a couple nights ago because a horribly tense, awkward, and awful situation was coming up. I was never going to fall asleep to that!
