Expect to sporadically post travel and landscape photography with some gear focused posts too. Mostly a Canon user although also a little Fujifilm, maybe Nikon, probably never Sony… 🤷🏻‍♂️
#MERRYCHRISTMAS Merry Christmas! These trees always retain some leaves well past "fall color" time of the year to provide some Christmas color with no effort on my part. 👍

#PHOTOGRAPHY #BIRDS Another male cardinal visiting the backyard bird feeder. I just happened to have a telephoto zoom lens on the camera when he showed up for his closeup.

#PHOTOGRAPHY #LANDSCAPE Here's another one from the North Carolina trip. This one was taken with the Canon R6 Mark III somewhere between The two waterfalls in the last posts. Being winter, the background is busy but I liked the look of the water.

#PHOTOGRAPHY #LANDSCAPE. A second iPhone shot. About a half mile on up the trail you come to Indian Creek Falls.

#PHOTOGRAPHY #LANDSCAPE. An iPhone camera shot of Tom Branch Falls near Bryson City, NC. I also had a Canon R6 mark III camera with me but I’m traveling and didn’t bring a laptop. Maybe post something taken with it in a day or two.

#PHOTOGRAPHY #BIRDS I wouldn't normally post a bird on a feeder shot but I sometimes document the birds that visit my backyard. Although the brown headed nuthatch is supposed to be native to my area I've never seen one until this year. Now they are regulars so I guess some are nesting in my area.

#CANON #PHOTOGRAPHY Here's an image taken well after peak fall color. I like the look of it because of the spot color here and there. It may look "busy" in a social media post because of the small size.

#PHOTOGRAPHY #NIKONZR I think the “super moon” is supposed to be tomorrow night but, when I was out a few minutes ago, tonight’s moon looked pretty good. 🤷🏻‍♂️

#CANON #R6MARKIII. This is a Canon tech post. Handheld video shooters can rejoice. If you have the electronic level turned on in the display on the new R6 Mark III, it now stays on when you hit record instead of turning off like the R5 Mark II ! 👍🏻

#NIKONZR #BIRDS #PHOTOGRAPHY A little more testing of the Nikon ZR. This time photo. Here's a cardinal on a rather ugly feeder but I do like the background bokeh. Using their 180-600mm zoom lens is comical with suck a small camera. It's also a challenge without a viewfinder!

#NIKONZR #LANDSCAPE #PHOTOGRAPHY Here's a second shot from the walk in the woods. This one is of the trail on the way back from the lake.

#NIKONZR #LANDSCAPE #PHOTOGRAPHY An image from a walk in the woods taken with the Nikon ZR. I was doing some more video testing but went ahead and took a few still shots as well.

#Nikon #NikonZR. One thing that Nikon may be able to address with firmware updates is the ZR’s lack of more advanced video exposure assist tools. The addition of False Color and Waveforms would make nailing the exposure easier. Also, some Red shooters want tools similar to their other cameras.

#Nikon #NikonZR The first issue with the Nikon ZR, ironically, is its size. In this image it is attached to Nikon’s 24-120mm f4 S standard zoom lens. With its small size and almost no grip for your fingers on the right, it’s not a comfortable camera to handhold with most Nikon lenses.

#Nikon #ZR I’m currently shooting some with the Nikon ZR. You’d think it rivals the second coming based on all of the YouTube hype. It doesn’t. It’s a good video camera but is missing features that would make it great. I’ll explain in another post.

Test post to see how Bksy handles video shorts. I had to go back and re-export this 30 second clip at medium quality with H.265 compression to get it under the 100mb file limit. It may look terrible...

Quite a different canyon today, Little River Canyon. A mini drought in the area for the last couple of months means not much fall color with a lot of leaves simply turning brown and falling off.
