When I had to sketch everything out for my personal setting I started with geography and then figured out how the cultures and nations were going to work out.
Then you can point at the map and go "here's all the interesting stuff that goes on here"

At the 37 minute mark, it finally gave me access to a settings menu

In one ending, an entire world is destroyed for a single life to be saved. A fundamental villanous action with good intentions.
In the other, a single life is sacrificed to keep the world alive. A fundamental heroic act fueled by fear and grief.
Neither of them are good endings.

Neither of the endings feel good because they are the result of a fundamental character flaw that both of them share: they don't care for their own life and are willing to sacrifice themselves to give the other a life they don't want.
