Wait, which birds have teeth? I know some that have serration in the beaks, but those aren’t technically “teeth”, because they aren’t separate bones(I was once lectured on this point by a swan enthusiast).

And that’s a point I earnestly respect, but I also do enjoy some silly shenanigans, and I suppose I wanted to expand on my own feelings about that? In kind of a convoluted and long-winded way that might not have come across right. That’s on me. I’m not always great at articulating my thoughts. Sorry

It is addressed, yes. It’s not so much that I feel like it wasn’t addressed, more so that I think the author and I come away from the game feeling differently? Benfell writes that some people are content with silly, cute shenanigans, but she wants more from her media.

But I also think maybe art that is just silly and light has a place, and it’s okay to have things that are just silly and light, in moderation? I dunno. I’ve talked a lot and I don’t know how coherent it is but I wanted to get my thoughts out I guess.

I think exclusively engaging with media that is soft and silly and fluffy and “cozy” isn’t the right thing to do. It’s important to engage with conflict, complexity, and difficulty, and it’s also important to have variety in the types of art you engage with, in both medium and tone.

& I absolutely don’t think escape is the ONLY response that should be had, I think media that encourages action and engagement/acknowledgement of the difficult and stressful is 1000% good and necessary & people should absolutely seek that out and engage with that!

Maybe I’m dumb&shallow for saying this, but I think part of why people like this so much is because we’re seeing so much about how Everything Is Terrible & If You Aren’t Constantly Upset About All Of It, You’re A Bad Person. I think people are drawn to silly fluff like this as a kind of escape?
