Just sitting here, enjoying the evening as the sun goes down when a group of at least 45 white pelicans flies over. They’re usually on a completely different part of the island, so it was definitely a surprise! #salishsea #whidbeyisland

Yesterday in bird class we learned that California Scrub Jays are rare on Whidbey Island. We’ve had some visiting us all winter so I guess now we are the front line backyard birder scientific researchers for scrub jays in our area.
