Title: 20th Anniversary Editors's Choice Collection
Text: In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Politics & Gender(opens in a new tab), past and current journal editors were asked to identify some of their favorite articles published during their editorial terms. Criteria for selecting these articles reflected a mix of considerations, including the impact and originality of the articles – as well as their relevance to understanding the current political climate. Collectively, they reflect the broad reach of the journal, representing different subfields and methodological approaches, as well as the work of junior and more established scholars.

Please enjoy free access to all articles below until the end of December 2025.

I am incredibly proud that my book, co-authored with Andrea Aldrich, is published. Using an original party leadership dataset from 11 parliamentary democracies, Andrea and I show that women candidates face a glass ceiling for leadership and quickly sink once elected (the quicksand theory).

Great workshop in Mexico City at ITAM 🇮🇹 Thanks to all the scholars who shared their research and provided comments. Special thanks to @teele.bsky.social @alucardi1.bsky.social & Juan Pablo Micozzi for hosting us!

We had an amazing time in ITAM in Mexico City for the 17th Empirical Study of Gender (EGEN) workshop! Our workshop brought together scholars from around the world to discuss projects on gender and power, get feedback, and build community. Look at this group of amazing scholars 🤩
A group of scholars stand behind a sign that reads ITAM. There is green lawn to the front and sides of the sign and red buildings in the background.
