I feel sad for new devs in the current age. AI extracts so much of the wonder and creativity from programming and pushes you down the path of doing things faster instead of playing with something silly for a long time.

Shopify is actively kneecapping the ruby ecosystem by strong arming Ruby Central. Why would any business especially another e commerce business use an ecosystem entirely controlled by Shopify who has already shown they are willing to do hostile takeovers of open source packages. How disappointing

This is the first code project in a long time that I have been proud of because it took me maybe 2 weeks to write the 50 lines of code. But it will run JIT code on apple silicon (no other cpu so don't try) github.com/tanema/go-ji...

I got laid off for the second time in 2 years. I am really frustrated because as I was hiring I specifically asked all leadership about layoffs and they assured me they were hiring slow so they wouldnt have to and here I am again.

Okay so I hopped on the ghostty.org hype and the fact that it just *does* font ligatures even inside my vim instance is incredible because I hate setting that shit up. Kudos to the creator! Incredible!

What I have learned in the second half of the year working @netlify.com is how much maintaining a service like this is not only protecting a site from malicious actors, but also protecting customers from themselves. Please stop purging the CDN, that is what it is there for. Just leave it be. please.

One of the worse things about amazon is that they make so much money off of business services that they could pay their workers and make so many other things cheap or free like their unlimited book service. Instead they double down and add advertisements to existing streaming services.
