I do not believe that any black men choose to hang themselves from a tree limb; ever. Not many in the US do, of any race. Hanging suicides are almost always solitary, hidden moments, designed to not be seen to prevent an intervention. All of this is understood by most psychologist/forensic folks.

I think that we are talking about reproducing something more that bread and cheese. A toasted cheese bread is an easy go-to for many of us (a great quick breakfast), but I like the connection to the literature personally.

The scene was really amazing

When we saw that song watching the show, we both thought “those lyrics seem familiar”. Took a minute to figure out, but the phrasing seemed to change the song entirely. But we also listened to Tina Turner and heard it anew.
