There's so many baffling choices in this film but the only thing that really actually pissed me off is the complete disrespect to the High School Musical lore. Where was my boy, the true star, Ryan Evans?! I feel scammed.

The boys are SO back

Holy shit, it's the nuntifa! I put off watching this for so long but this had so much more than I expected! Really fun songs, gorgeous cinematography, great humor and a wholesome, feel-good atmosphere throughout, carried by Julie Andrew's absolutely superhuman charisma. Oh, and the aforementioned anti-fascist nuns of course. Did NOT feel 3 hours long at all.

I didn't understand any of it but much of the film was a 14-year-old girl beating up and shooting grown men in military uniforms, so I did understand that it's WOKE. Let Nabwana IGG make a full-budget Hollywood action thriller already, damn.

I fully expected show-Cassian > film-Cassian, what I didn't expect was show-Krennic >>> film-Krennic! The dogfighting in this film is still probably the best Star Wars has ever had, and the whole third act is great, but the weaknesses of the film's first half still keep me from ranking this as high as others do. I also have to disagree when it comes to Andor making this film better; if anything, I feel going straight from that absolutely spectacular series to this film only highlights its weaker point. The politics within the rebel alliance in particular are just so much less nuanced.

I'm a sucker for Shakespeare adaptations and this one transports its source material to a present-day Berlin gang war (Richard III becomes Rashida), is queer, and doesn't shy away from theatricality, all of which made it even more interesting to me. The screenplay is pretty neat, it's really hard to notice which parts are taken directly from Shakespeare and which were written or changed for the film, if you don't know beforehand. The cast is brilliant as well, though they're deliberately stage acting, not film acting, which you need to be okay with to enjoy this thing. What really sells

The big stunt: 10/10 The heist: 9/10 The chase: 10/10 The mask reveal: 6/10 The main theme needle drop: 7/10 Too self-serious, too much pathos. The two big stunt sequences are absolutely phenomenal but they feel a bit buried in hours and hours of exposition and a bloated cast. The thing is, many of these ideas are pretty neat (like promoting Angela Basset's character to president) but too often they end up being nothing but "pretty neat": shallow connections to earlier installments that could be pretty cool if they served any deeper purpose. Huh, this was, like, a real movie! With themes and character-driven humor and politically relevant villains. And Florence Pugh!

Göransson really is among the best to do it, damn! Incredible atmosphere building and a great setting, so much so that I forgave the pretty regular vampire action in the end (which was a lot of fun, don't get me wrong! Just... regular)

I thought the bit with the villager and the lady falling in love was just a post credits scene. Why is it the entire C plot?! It was fun. Many gags feel like they're written by people desperately trying to figure out what kids find funny, and although there are a couple references for the grown-ups that I found funny, they also felt a bit out of place (didn't expect a manosphere satire from this film for one). The LEGO movie sold the message better.

The concert sections are excellent, the interviews vary wildly in quality. My favorite ones were actually those with Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet, probably because they weren't direct collaborators but came with the perspective of a genuine fan (with extensive media training).
