It's fair to assume that the RNG table index is much simpler to execute on old hardware. Doom especially has a lot going on for a game from 1993 so lots of weird stuff happens because of optimization (more infamously, enemies have infinite height to save on CPU cycles)

Yeah it's used for a bunch of stuff, from UI to damage rolls, nowadays the modern source ports have much more refined RNG systems that make the curve more like a bell curve

Reminds me of how classic Doom (which arguably took a lot of inspiration from RPGs that came before it, and their RNG) uses a static table that moves to the next index at each call. TAS rely a lot on RNG manipulation/understanding of this index and where it is

Today is the first day I will do a theater class IRL.

My only hope is that it doesn't have people that much older than me (mainly because of the generational gap there might be between us).

Last week I went to Spain on a self-imposed workation.

This gave me the opportunity to take back my time: no more waiting for tasks at work that never come, no more sitting forever in my apartment after work, no more dead hours.

This is, I think, how we should spend the time we have, work or not.
