A season that for me started in Port St. Lucie finished, fittingly, in New York.

Beginning to sudden end, it was a great time. I’m so fortunate to do this for a living. Shout out to Red Sox fans — and especially Globe readers — for welcoming me to a new beat. Excited for more!

As a kid, Nick Sogard was taken to a Sox-Yankees game in New York, where he defiantly wore his Pedroia jersey. On Tuesday, the 28-year-old rookie made his own unlikely mark on the field against the Yankees. “I feel like this is where I belong.” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/10/01/s...

Within: There have been no formal complaints to MLB this year about coaches’ involvement in reading pitch tips. Still, MLB is instructing umpires for the playoffs to remind managers during lineup card exchanges that coaches, by rule, are required to stay in the coaches’ box.
