My son tried to do the right thing and travel from London to South Uist by train and ferry - but it would have needed a night in Mallaig. He decided to fly instead.

CalMac Ferries to the Outer Hebrides suffer the same lack of coordination. E.g. one of the few trains a day to Mallaig, arrives ten minutes before a ferry for South Uist leaves - the latter has a 30 minutes before check in. 1/2
